Domestic Flight Rates 2024
Does anyone feel like domestic flight rates increased 1.6x -2x for 2024?
what's the reason for this surge even when there are no long weekends?
Any tricks to get back to old prices atleast at 1.3x?
What is the incentive to travel by train if you are getting to travel by plane at the same price. (P.S for 1A)
If it's an overnight journey, then a train is actually saving you time.
For a 6am flight, I have to reach by 4 and leave by 2 to account for any emergencies on the way. I'd a taxi driver come in with a punctured tire and it set us back by 1 hr because he didn't know how to change a tyre.
👀 seems like, based on a real life incident.
For overnight it seems okay. But recently I checked a train fare from howrah to Bangalore costs 6800 for 1a.
I actually went via Duronto 1A from BLR to Howrah. It was more expensive than flight at the time I booked it. I did it bcoz I never travelled in 1A in Duronto and I wanted to.
I love travelling in trains and it was fun!
I guess trains are a clear winner for journeys less than 5 hrs. Currently this means distance of 200-250 KM in India. But with faster trains, it can as well reach 600KM in couple of years and this is where benefits will come - think BLR - Hyderabad, Delhi - Lucknow, Kolkata - Patna all in less than 5hrs
The airports are generally further away from city center - 30-40min in travel each way to and from airport. plus the 2hrs of overhead in security and baggage drop. You are constantly moving, so can't get any work done.
Compare this with train - much more convenient and productive if you are sitting in a single place for 5 hrs.
The bullet trains in Europe are a wonder - Munich to Paris, Paris to Milan etc. Trains are much convenient on these routes vs flights
True. And let's not forget, the trains are fast, well maintained and clean
Multiple reasons -
1A should be compared to Business class air travel if comfort is accounted for. Then price feels justified.
For baggages.
The experience itself
Because of low cancellations charges in train tickets
1A is luxury
Last mile connectivity plus the hassle of airport.

Tier 1 (Should Book These): Vistara (for comfort, feels, food) Indigo (for being cost effective, on time, no frills)
Tier 2 (Doable): Air India (some planes are good now, but still inconsistent) Spicejet (if you are...
Swap Spice Jet and Air India Express
Completely incorrect analysis imo. My tiers: 1. Vistara 2. Air India 3. Air Asia 4. Indigo 5. Akasa 6. ...
indigo and on time together in a single sentence 😂 tell us what you’re smoking OP
I used to love Indigo. It's the fastest no-BS airline that can get you from point A to point B. They fly more cities than any other airline in India
But man! Over time the service has really gotten worse

They still have the best connectivity. People end up using Indigo with or without intent.
Trust me bro, others are even worse..I took flight from spicejet with family and had horrendous experience. The perso...
Always wondered how it happens Have been using credit cards for some time, never found as much in rewards. What can a novice change in his cards?
There are certain cards which help you get free tickets(not entirely free though) Most famous ones are Vistara c...
There are no free lunches in this world. Change your mindset. Don't change your cards.
