Why working in corporate is so difficult

I’m working in a project where all my teammates don’t help each other at all even when we ask some queries, no one wants to answer or let others know right things as if they are sharing some trade secrets. So much politics. Just pulling others down. And when they need something, they just have to know, they call me, continuously ask me things but if I ask them something, nothing, no reply to messages. But we have another onshore team. They r super helpful, tells us things not just something we ask but that they think might help us in future.

In my case, I am angry that my team member does not reach out to me! I have to reach out to them and tell them that they are doing this wrong. Even after that at times they don’t pay attention to my suggestions/feedback.

This culture over a prolonged period kills your ability to help others with a pure heart. Don’t give up mate. Keep at it. Fight for information from multiple sources. Be self independent.

Talk to higher management and sack them out. Already there are many freshers are in market let them join the battle and they will listen and do it

Well tbh it is because they don't really trust you or respect you.

I've faces similar situation. I've very good solution.

Try to talk to the people who is are either from your state or from part of the India where state is.

I've got 3 new friends which one is just beside my state and other two are part of India where my state is.

Now we do work. do a lot of talking and laughing and others are too jealous of us. But we all are best performing in my team for consecutive two months.

I hope it help.

Possibility would be all your teammates are there for a long time. The politics begins when they want to continue even longer. They don't want to help as they have to keep their position intact and in most cases they don't have the required skill set as well. So, they don't want to help else they may lose their importance. I would suggest, keep changing the team or company, there are always better and open people who are always ready to help. For me personally it is to give and take, that's how we grow.

Yeah one of them is actually 15+ years experienced so I guess he wants to show himself a lot better than others

Try posting queries in a group where higher management is there. Ppl love to respond when they get visibility. You can start this culture

I am also facing the same situation exactly. Now only I realised everyone are facing similar issues in their team. Because of them even I have thought to give up and put a paper. Currently I am in Chaos.

Sinilar situation, but the offshore team helps each other but onshore teams dont (they're Indians with 18 yoe). They fail to do even simple tasks like adding a log line or commenting out an entry in manifest. These are contractors hired by the client for prod support. This team will handle app maintanence after we as development team move on to next project for the client. We have countless .md files for docs. I have personally spent close to 100 hrs of KT and my team over 500 it total. They get defensive when we try to establish standards for app development. They fail to understand it is only going to help them in the future. There is no hope for these people.

Do you think that this is toxic work culture or "the price of greatness"?

When I look back at my own journey, my biggest growth spurts weren't from my wins (though those felt great!). They came from those moments when I was sitting in my room at 2 AM, fixing shit that wouldn't work, or getting rejected from th...
