Things I did when desperately wanting to pass interview
Hello Grapeviners. Few of us must have had to do some naughty stuff in order to pass an online or face to face interview. Could be second screen during online interview, a mobile used, using a proxy, having another person attend on another call going in parallel...And so on. Be frank and share it here😊
One interview, 1000+ job opportunities
Take a 10-min AI interview to qualify for numerous real jobs auto-matched to your profile 🔑
- Trying to setup really cool background for video calls.
- Going through all the videos of ceo speaking at events to understand what the company does and trying to impress with right set of questions
- Doing some random competitive analysis post interview and dropping mail to impress the interviewer. Show that you can go the extra mile

I'm thinking of building an overlay app for mobile where you'll see all the answer to the questions the interviewer is asking.
There can also be a desktop overlay thing which doesn't come on the screen sharing. I think that'll be the difficult part.
Anyone up for building this with me ?

All through the interview, I noted that the interviewer was pretty old school. And had a cold face throughout. Seemed like none of my answers impressed him, while I knew I answered brilliantly.
Just as the interview was about to end, I said, "Really looking forward to work for someone who has been gaining experience before I was even born. To imagine the insights and knowledge, I would get, woww"
His cold face melted faster than the butter pierced by a hot knife. It was a face to face interview and to see him struggling to hide his shyness was worth it 😂😂😂

I once interviewed with a developmental consulting firm and they asked me a difficult case, involved a lot of calculations and honestly I wad a bit stuck
Had a couple of calculations to do for market sizing, I realized I would look stupid because of my mental math speed
Ended up pretending my network has gone bad, bought myself some time
Didn’t make it ultimately but I think this case went well 😂

I interviewed a final year IITD grad who was very obviously copying code from a second screen. The question was easy af. Ended the call then and there.

Had a case study round where I was asked to put down all the metrics I would monitor while building a product X. I went to Google analytics page and pulled all the metrics it showed in the home page and eliminated the unnecessary ones and put it in an order. It was the deciding round. Got the job.

Never needed one, product interviews seems easy if you know what you are doing

Conducting an interview
All of you here, if you are interviewing somebody, please have the courtesy to

Hola Grapeviners! I would love to know why are you on the platform?
I’ll go first.
To me, it’s all about access. Access to authentic ideas.
The best search result you get on Google is high SEO but low authenticity. On LinkedIn, there are so many people but everyone is shilling a course or 1:1 resume r...
