Reality as is..

Interviewer shows up in a crumpled t-shirt, over sized hoodie, cross legged and gym shorts. Candidate forgets to button one shirt button - “unprofessional”

Interviewer takes the call from their couch, leaning back, half-distracted. Candidate doesn’t maintain “enough eye contact” - “not serious about the role”

Interviewer doesn’t bother to read the resume beforehand. Candidate stumbles on one question - “not well-prepared”

No tie = “not serious about the role” Messy hair = “not well-groomed”

Interviewer has the power to be sloppy, casual, and disengaged. Candidate has to perform a perfect act to even be considered.

And then companies wonder why hiring is broken. The hypocrisy is wild.

That’s the reality we live in.

And for those wondering - yes!! This is real. This has happened to folks.

Some admit/ confess/ crib/ share/ revolt/ move on. Some Don’t

Tech Influencers see stuck in their ivory towers

Disclaimer: I respect both of them, svs & SG; dare I say I am a fan.

But being on the other side of recruiting with all the power and influence of the corporate hierarchy, they seem to be out of touch.

  • Have their cameras off
  • Show up in old t-shirts, looking like they haven't washe...
