What about Remote startups?
Does anyone here work at any remote startups that are based out of India? How is the work culture? How is the pay? Do we actually get paid in dollars? What's career growth?
Alright, let’s settle this once and for all. Offshore employees or onsite employees—who's the real backbone of our workplace empires? Is it the 9-to-5 warriors who deal with the office AC wars, or the global troopers working from mysterious time zones?
Here’s the deal:
Offshore Employees 🌏 They’re like the ninjas of the workforce—working while you sleep, covering shifts you wouldn’t dream of, and probably in their pajamas. And let's talk $$, shall we? Offshore is often cheaper, so, should we be happy that companies save a buck (or a thousand) hiring them? But then, there’s the communication factor. Ever tried explaining your project’s “vibe” over a laggy Zoom call at 3 AM? It’s like a game of corporate telephone.
Onsite Employees 🏢 Ah, the local legends. You get to have awkward elevator chats, actual coffee breaks, and a 50/50 chance of surviving the Monday morning office gossip. They get the company culture. They are the pulse of the business (or so they say). But let’s face it, they can be pricey! Local talent comes with local expenses. So is that cultural synergy really worth the hit to the budget? So, what’s the verdict, Reddit? Are we sticking with the all-seeing onsite pros, or are we giving a high five to our offshore MVPs?

Both have their strengths. Offshore saves costs and works odd hours, but communication can be tricky. Onsite offers cultural synergy and direct interaction, but is pricier. Balance is key.

In the post Covid era when people are actually back to flooding offices and the highways are back to being jammed 24/7 and the elevator space is being hogged by everyone who has to get off before you, is remote still preferred?

I feel hybrid culture is the best though. Sometimes you need to concentrate on some work which doesn't happen at work...
I don't think we can call them toxic for enforcing WFO. It's their company, they make the rules and they enforce them...
