Final Death Nail to Dotpe-Financial Services Arm
So the management decided to let go of all the field team including the leadership which came as a shock to everyone.
After spending so much time and money building a vertical which was growing so well, they decided to throw everything under the bus.
So many experts from the Banking and Financial services field who have given up their steady careers to build something from scratch are let down and left in a lurch..
Probably that's why a lot of people from traditional companies do not trust the startups who only gobble up investors'money with little or no patience to build on a disruptive (Tod-Fod) idea.
So here goes my first startup experience leaving a sour taste ... But I loved the thrill of building something from scratch 🥳
Wish me luck 🤞 Signing off 😔

Hey, so sad to hear that. Just wanted to know when you got to know that they will soon shut it down? Asking this because then at least one can prepare for other companies.

Today at 3 PM when the HR called ....we just had a call at 1.30 discussing a foreign trip which the team had qualified for and they had taken the details for visa etc 😅
Dramatic indeed 😁

If it was growing so well, why did they shut it down? Was it a cash guzzler? Is Dotpe out of cash?

Lending isn't a distribution game anymore, it's about maintaining a healthy balance sheet...i.e having a good quality portfolio... Now idk what exactly was dotpe doing without their financial services vertical but it was lending then definitely distribution wasn't a challange it has to do something with their portfolio quality

You will easily find a replacement role in BFSI 👍 all companies look to poach from each other - don't stress

Thanks mate....I am not worried...just taking some time off for a decade and a half of continuous work ...
Something exciting would be coming my way soon

Just curious, what does DotPe do? What tech stack was getting used there and the reason behind choosing that?

“The thrill of building”… anything that gives you THRILL should not be your main source of income. Better to keep them as side hustle. Solid businesses are mostly boring won’t offer any thrill.

I think you always play safe .... Good for you ... My career has been a high growth one since the time I had started chasing "Thrills" rather than boring safe stuff.
Any severance???

Wait but dotpe was going on the right track right? So the software engineers are also getting laid off?

Jitni jaldi startup utni jaldi shutdown laptop ke maafik.

Dotpe isn't shutting down just the finance department? It's crazy
I wanted to join dotpe and got a call when it was in the super early stage of only 4-5 people but for some reason after reading everything it felt like it won't take off so I dropped the idea, because there were more apps like this but getting restaurants onboarded was a huge challenge, somehow dotpe was able to crack that
