Why are people so riled up about Zomato’s veg delivery fleet?

I mean I understand the outrage but it’s a public company. Just organise and short the stock. All companies are aligned to incentives. Align the incentives for the company in a way that the business generated by the veg fleet is overwhelming affecting them negatively and the company will correct itself. If you can’t then shut the fuck up.

It’s a company trying to grow its business. A companies only prerogative is delivering outcomes to its shareholders.

Stop sitting in your AC rooms working in companies mostly either funded or founded by purely vegetarian folks and hope that your outrage on twitter justifies your contribution to social justice in this country.

Save your mindless outrage for events of significant consequence.

PS: I eat non veg and I don’t really care how a vegetarian prefers to eat his food that he is paying for from the money he made from his work.

Dude, physical segregation of the fleet will lead to discrimination - housing complexes might put a ban on the red drivers delivering non-veg food. Their life might be under threat. Separate delivery might make sense from a business POV because there's a demand but you can't negate the cultural significance of food preferences in a country like India.

Food preferences are personal and everyone is free to eat what they like/suites them, the problem is with the identifiers.

Read the excerpt from Deepinder Goyal's tweet today, they have decided not to implement the colored uniforms.

"This will ensure that our red uniform delivery partners are not incorrectly associated with non-veg food, and blocked by any WAs or societies during any special days... our riders' physical safety is of paramount importance to us. We now realise that even some of our customers could get into trouble with their landlords, and that would not be a nice thing if that happened because of us."

Exactly my point. They are acting like people they avoid, "How do you feel eating live animal"

You eat what you like 😒

The day your non-veg red tshirt delivery boy won’t be allowed in the society due to whatever reason (sentiments, Navratri, any random festival) is when you’ll understand. Everything is fine till it happens to you.:)

The seculars have been working for quite long to have religious reservation. Modi sarkar in 2014 put a dent to their plans. So they now oppose anything that respects hindu sentiments. Their worst nightmare is someone talking about economic criteria based reservation instead of current caste based.

You give someone a place to stand, they ask for a place to sit...., give a place to sit, they ask for a place to sleep..... Give a place to sleep, they will claim the house is thiers and drive you out. The mistake Hindus did, seculars are trying to avoid

Zomato's veg fleet? A classic case of misplaced priorities. Worry about your own plate, let Zomato worry about theirs. Now, why don't you question the real issues?

Zomato's veg fleet is just a smart move to cater to India's diverse palate. Critics, remember, even samosas sell in millions! Now, what's your favourite Zomato order?
