On the other hand, EU has strongly regulated AI on Wednesday. This AI act applies to ALL models operating in the EU, not just the ones being built there. It's such a landmark regulation (like GDPR) which will now lay the foundation for other countries follow - but too little too late IMO.

We too should've regulated AI long ago. IMO, we moved in the right direction with the previous restrictions on AI models. But I guess such things happen in a democracy where the masses are gullible and often manipulated into believing the exact opposite of what's good for them in the long term. We'll definitely face some repercussions in the long run because of our AI regulations being taken down and having no AI regulations at all.
