This is something I've started to notice a lot now that whenever I go to a company's LinkedIn page, most of the recent hires have been a woman. I'm only talking about tech companies and MNCs and gender based hiring.
I've been on hiring panels before and we were asked to give preference to female candidates even if they underperformed because the team wasn't diverse enough. The same has been confirmed by my other friends who are in HR and TA. Not all companies do this but all the major companies definitely do from my experience.
Again, this post is not to hate on women by any means but sometimes I wonder why is this even the case currently? Why can't we simply hire based on performance and experience rather than gender?
I had to reject so many good candidates because their only mistake was that they were born as a male.
Ask yourself if you'd like to work in an all male team and company.
If your answer is no, that's why you need diversity regardless of skills. As long as a minimum level of work is achieved, doesn't matter if more skilled people could have been hired.
If your answer is yes, then you'll just end up creating a boy's club in every workplace out there. It will be even more difficult to add women who are competent enough but don't feel comfortable surrounded by only men.
