Secret of success in corporate life
after 4 years of experience in corporate life i came to realize that if you want to get promoted and get max visibility then don't solve any issue on your own.
Which means if you find some bug/issue which might become a big issue then don't solve it silently and expect others to appreciate you for it later on, they don't know the impact of the bug, you won't get enough appreciation
Present it, involve your manager, involve his manager, involve other managers. Let it become a big issue, only then you will get credit for finding the bug and also for coming up with the solution.
People don't respect those who avoid bugs, but those who solve bugs. So be that person.
Trust me there is no other way.
I regret not following this.

काम मत कर,
काम की फिक्र कर,
फिर उस फिक्र का ज़िक्र कर.

Reminds me of a dialogue from the movie Nayak... "Aise problems ko kabhi solve nahi karne chahiye, bulki inka issue bana kar Rajneeti khelni chahiye." Sad but true.

This totally works. What a dumb incentive system.

Sadly this does work. If u do it closer to promotion period then it’s all the more better

It’s all about factions. Choose the right one, and follow the big guy. Nobody remembers Dara Shukoh and the people who followed him. Everybody remembers freaking Aurangzeb.

In my team, usually people mock others and try to say a lot of shit in standup..just to get the attention of the manager... deliberately those people roam around seniors including architects and get better work and at the end they are in the priority list of promotions.

I had a distributor who gave me the best tip of sales life- “Mutto kam, hilao zyada. Boonde 4 girengi, par sabko lagna chahiye ki baarish ho rahi hai”

Similar experience. nerdy kids at school become people are habituated to working in silence, being the saviours, expecting appreciation.
This isn’t useful in corporate world. Being a non-mba pm at a fintech, i saw mba folks hooting it all the time; even on hollow work.
Also - it only happens at CORPORATE. Not in a startup where founder is involved in day to day work.
So you choose one and make peace with it. But choose one and phase out.
