Panic attack.

Is it a good idea to disclose the panic attacks to your managers? Will they understand that panic attacks are similar to any physical illness. Most people think that panic attacks are made up and are not serious. They take it very lightly.

I need couple of days off as I got panic attacks because of extremely stressful situation at work. I don't have any proof of my panic attack to show to them.

Why do you wanna share what’s the issue. Just tell them you are sick. Let them learn to trust and respect personal boundaries.

If you need to give proof for any health issues for taking a couple of days off, that manager and the company work culture is the problem. You are fine

Not worth sharing the details. Just take some sick days and if you need more time take planned leaves.

Nope. Especially if you are in high pressure job and work for a toxic co. yes if you are a European or a Nordic.

It’s depends on the manager . Many are not considerate and would eventually use it to berate their “resource”.

I would say the disadvantages outweigh the advantages so not worth the risk.

I have a german manager. They are absolutely the best. If you also have a non-indian manager, feel free to tell them. They do not judge. Indian managers on the other hand will try to take advantage.

Absolutely, I personally did it and it helped me tremendously

Mind you this was a job where I was new. But it was work related panic attacks and if I didn’t tell my manager, i’d just continue feeling even more awkward and shut off than I did

I told him and he didn’t totally understand but said yeah whatever you need, and it helped my brain tremendously

Good managers will support. Bad managers will exploit. It’s always trial and error buddy.
