I feel I am being played!

I have been working in my company for over 4 years now, each time it's time for Appraisals I am told the company cannot go beyond 7%. But I have progressed in my role through the years and I have delivered excellent growth results this year when the context has been dull. I am super frustrated it could end up with being handed a 7% increment and of course a football to take home, especially after my meeting with my manager. It's getting to me now!

Bruh inflation is like 7%. Your salary didn't increase

Real inflation is way higher for urban cities šŸ’”

In cities, true inflation comes from real estate. 10% every year.

Are you the only one that's getting played ?

Doesn't seem to be the case, but the irony is even after I have performed way above the norm it doesn't seem to be enough

Start looking for other jobs, negotiate with them after you have an offer in hand.

This is how the world works son. If you simply work hard in a straightforward way it wont fetch you any money if thats what you are looking for. You need to create dependency and make yourself irreplaceable and threaten to leave if not given a raise. Thats when your importance would be realised šŸ™‚
Also, 4yrs is too long of a tenure. If money is your focus then switch jobs every 1-2 years for first 10 years of your career. You cant get more tha. 10% hike in a appraisal cycle staying in the same company. These are the rulea of the game. Playing the gamw well is upto you. All the best.

Is being handed a football some euphemism or you meant it literally?

I would suggest you to switch, and if you really like and don't want to leave due to any reason, get some offer, and ask them to match, else leave bro.

I have also worked in same company for more than 4 years, I have worked with many managers, good and bad, result for us won't change, only thing variable is that, few managers will rudely put it to us, and some will act like they care, and convince us in their decisions. But at the end they will always try to give us as low as possible.
