How to overcome midlife career crisis?

How to over come feeling defeated and anxious as I grow older in tech field biased towards younger lot and shiny new tech stacks.

Worked in WITCH companies, no hope of getting into product based at 11 yrs exp.

I am no way extraordinary technologically wise nor got chance to work on complex projects just standard Crud apps on different tech stacks like Asp.net and SAP Fiori/Hana.

I shudder to think of being jobless at 50 with no job with no pension and max responsibilities on my shoulders at that time .

Can someone provide pointers how to come out of this rut? I would be grateful🙏🏻

To move to product roles/ startup:

  1. Be optimistic and open-minded
  2. Go meet folks. Talk to as many people as possible. Most top folks are lonely and have tons of free time. Many even have topmate links where you can book time.
  3. Go to events, volunteer etc -- not with an intention to switch but genuinely do good karma

All you need is one person willing to take a bet on you. Once you crack unicorn startups and/ or product.. thereafter, cracking is easier. And learning wise, mostly it's on the job training.

But yeah - post 50 joblessness seems inevitable
