How to deal with this nightmare? 👻

I just joined a semi government organisation in delhi as a Senior Graphic Designer. Prior to that I have worked for early stage startups and been a contributor to their growth story. But in my current organisation they don't like If I do things on my own or create something different from their existing designs. They even tell me what colors or font to use in designs particularly the assistant content manager who assigns work. Anything I make is rejected and replaced by their old ideas which they are following. How to deal with this?

Every workplace and their environment is different. Some give their team members a lot of autonomy while others don’t. You have to learn to navigate around these and find a middle ground. Try to understand their perspective as well, many times we as designers think we know best, however, SMEs in their field have access to data, information, network and even the thought process of users or seniors who will approve everything. Separate yourself from your work firstly, whatever you create for a company is not ‘your’ design, they are just tasks that have to fulfill a certain requirement, and if they’re paying you they are within their means to decide how much leeway they wanna give. Rest is your choice to work there or not, good luck!
