How does insane package actually work.

I see a lot of people with some years of experience earning in the range of 10-15 LPA. At the same time I see people with same experience earning 50-60 LPA. I know switch is one of way to get the package you want and companies don’t give enough increment and all that gyaan.

My question is a bit different. Even when people from 10-15 LPA apply to bigger companies, the company is only willing to give them 30-40% of hike. And that includes the likes of a lot of top tier companies (don’t count FAAANG)

So people who really reached high packages, what is the secret sauce here. Asking as a friend of mine is struggling for months. He works at Accenture so either the companies that call don’t wait for the notice or give only 30-40% hike at max saying this is market standard for the role

What is your take on it, exclude job hopping in few years because even that doesn’t work for some people or some profiles.

If someone reached high package faster than the people with same experience, that means that person also started with a higher package. As simple as that no secret sauce here.

Agreed. Would you say then the stories people post on social media about 3 LPA to 80 fixed, and all, are either shams or one in a hundred case?

Haven’t watched any of them but pretty sure they are not one time switch. They must’ve taken some good 2-3 switches to reach there. Again, I am not discrediting their hard work and knowledge. It’s just that 3-80 make a good clickbait and you can’t question it since they don’t mention “in one switch” in the thumbnail.

I'd like to put myself as an example though not earning like 80 lpa basic but my CTC is 16 basic + other benefits which comes up to 28-30 LPA. It has taken me 2 switches to get here and a shit load of practice. FYI I'm not a dev. I'm a QAE.

How are people getting > 20 LPA?

I've had this doubt for a long time. How are people getting > 20 LPA while they have only 2-4 YOE. Is it because they are from tier 1 Universities?

Or they are switching from top companies with a higher current package?.

Or, is it the...
