Hiring is broken

In last 30 days or so three times I was in the situation where hiring people said I will send your offer letter by eod, which obviously didn’t happen. In fact the position is kept on hold or priorities are changed. This is pretty frustrating as well as confusing. I’m not able to understand how these people decide things.

Every time I was pushed to go through whole hiring process with multiple rounds of interviews as quickly as possible (within 10-15 days approx) and then suddenly nothing.

I’m not sure why these peoples are wasting theirs as well as others time. This just feels stupid.

How should I tackle this situation going forward?

It is broken, but we can't consider what's happening right now. Business requirements change everyday and it's difficult to make the decisions on hiring

I understand that. But it’s such a waste of time plus shows how clueless we all are, plus IMO if your requirements are changing that quickly it means that you haven’t thought it through 🙂

Facing this first time, maybe that’s why I’m confused 😀. It’s really interesting to see how clueless people are 😀

hang on.. nothing can be done for now.. But remember these things.... 1 year down, when economy improves.. do the same to companies. Attend interviews , negotiate salary , accept offer. ...do not turn up on joining date.

I can understand your POV but I feel doing that is just counter productive & waste of time.

I have been interviewing with Microsoft since late March 2024, possibly for an SE2 position. There is no HR involved. Engineers/Managers from Washington and Hyderabad call me or email me and schedule my interviews.
