Gurgaon is killing my Tech Career, despite working at a great company
I work in Gurgaon, been here 3 years. On paper, it’s a dream job - good CTC, great brand, nice office. But honestly? I have massive FOMO looking at my college batchmates in Bangalore.
Here in ggn, the culture is purely corporate. It feels like everyone is just focused on climbing the ladder, office politics, and getting smashed at Cyber Hub on Friday nights. It's flashy, but it feels hollow. We are optimizing operations, not technology.
I visited Bangalore last month and the difference is pretty evident. My friends there - even the ones in smaller startups - are miles ahead than me technically. They aren't gossiping about managers; they are debating better models, debating frameworks to use in AI, RAG pipelines, and actually building for the AI wave.
I feel like I'm stagnating here. While I'm getting better at "corporate speak," they are becoming actual tech leaders.
The irony is hilarious. I see so many posts here on Grapevine where Bangalore folks cry about traffic, north-south issues, and "wanting to moving to Tier 2." Bros, please. You don't realize the leverage you have. You are in the arena, thank your fucking stars!
Long term, this divide is going to be brutal. In 5 years, Bangalore folks will be the architects of the AI era, and I feel people here will just be the managers trying to understand what they built.

Glad this is the Top comment. There is no tech skill or soft skill or even the CTC which will give you satisfaction in life. Just live in the present wherever you are. I have friends who are earning less and more and have tech skills to disrupt the Intel Nvidias of the world but at the end of the day it doesn't really matter. Working on yourself and the life skills to extract the immense potential of the human body and experience life as it is will matter.
Gurgaon is sht, but there is no AI era in Bangalore. Real AI related stuff is in the west. Here, just wrappers.

In Bangalore also most of the IT folks are from the north only..NCR is not small u can always find similar tech stack folks outside of ur org also to discuss and debate.Grass looks greener from far and once u will move to Bangalore u will find different reasons to say Gurgaon was better.

Just be present n positive,live a life. Don't chase it
