They are barely surviving since chatgpt. Only bcoz itβs ads company they are afloat. Some moves are just desperate now
The Google money printer is in trouble and nooglers have failed to deliver on any of the moonshots
So if they are paying such a hefty amount in severance, we should expect them to start hiring any time soon. Here Hiring means normal hiring, not just 1-2 roles here and there.

I can see a lot of open positions in Google India LinkedIn (Bangalore and Hyderabad).

Also, last time for 12k PPL, Google spent 2 billion dollar, not sure how the math will play out
Saved 12 months or more in salary and benefits and office luxuries by paying some severance.
Indians make very poor strategic thinkers. Ironic for the country that saw great strategic geniuses.

Look at the long run! They will save 2-3X costs atleast in salaries, future RSUs, cost of maintenance per employee.
Plus companies like Google, Barclays, Microsoft will always have a comfortable severance package.
They're still hiring for a few roles tho
