Finally cracked a good job… and now life threw a curveball

I dont know where else to go so I'm sharing everything here. After 2 years of applying to thousand of jobs, interviewing rejections and stressing, I finally managed to crack a job at Barclays, I was so happy like finally something is going right for me. I though this would be the step which helps my family out of surviving and help me make a career for myself.

But then life decided to throw a curve ball at me.

My mother suffered accident and now nothing makes sense, being on notice period I have taken a lot of leaves, lwd is pushed and I dont know what to do. I feel like I cant shift now as my mother depends on me and I'm the only bread winner. I cant focus on anything and I'm typing this which waiting in a hospital corridor.

I keep thinking will I ever get a chance to give an interview at such a big company ever, everything was lining up somehow and now it’s just gone. Fate really played a cruel joke on me, I dont know which got I had pissed in which lifetime.

I dont even know if i should extend the joining or ask them to cancel the offer. I'm just confused and scared and hoping for a miracle. Does these big banks extend the joining or If I tell them that I cant join will they blacklist me? can I reapply again when everything makes sense ?

I’m really confused and scared to make the wrong move here. I'm looking for some advice. Please help

Don't reject joining. You need that raise for later hospital bills (hopefully you have insurance right now). 3 weeks is nothing.

Be honest with the HR/hiring manager and let them know about what had happened. On your end, ask your friends/relatives/wellwishers if they can take for some time until you manage your living in your new location. Then shift your mom with you. Tell the HR/hiring manager what you're doing to adjust this arrangement. Be upfront. Don't hesitate. Show them bills if needed. It's tough to trust people. Assure them that you're not going to do job hopping. People are usually kind when there's a bad situation on the personal front. Pray to your god if you believe in it. Don't fear. Just be confident. I hope you make it. Good luck. You can do this.
