15lakh FD , what would you have done?

In January 2026, I had ₹15 lakh in my savings account. I had been investing in the stock market, but this time I completely lost confidence in it.

So, I chose a safer approach. I invested the entire ₹15 lakh in fixed deposits, spreading the amount across four different banks, with ₹4 lakh in each.

Do you think this was the right decision? If you were in my position, what would you have done?

Investing in stock market requires Patience. I for one know that after 10 years everything will be green. So I just hold. All one has to do is find a reputable AMC with a good Investment plan like MF etc.

I will buy home in 1 or 2 year , that time I’ll need money, that’s why I’m more into FD

FD is safest
If u stay in metro cities
Try investing in a full site in the outskirts Buy a site and definitely it will increase ur interest compared to FD
Post 1-2 years u can sell and make profit

Assuming u get around 7% for FD interest
U gain around 1L after 1 year

Reselling site will gain 2x -4x profit

Sorry I didn’t understand what you meant by site ? Is it property?

I would suggest investing in a mutual fund. If you have low risk appetite then you can choose Nifty 50 index fund or etf or if you can take slight risk then also invest in flexicap funds. These can easily and safely beat fd return and will 2 times the return of FD.

@Goal26LPA Investing in FD is safe and good
Have you also explored invoice discounting in platforms like altgraff where decent returns and also safe (I think as per rbi upto 5l) which generates good interest
I do it - haven’t faced any problems - on time returns (which are generally for period 30 to 90 days and interest varies accordingly)
