Working at Cafe above Punjabi Rasoi on 100ft road Indiranagar was my worst decision of my life
Day by day things started getting from setting realistic expectations to aiming for the moon pretty fast.
I was reporting to 3 managers with zero collective vision.
Half of my time was wasted in people who didn't want to work with directions from a woman, wanted to do what they wanted and not understand the weight of their responsibilities.
Even if I got people to the cafe, tied up with communities, got people to do events, stock up products, there would always be more work and I would just feel so burnt out with no time left for me to have a social life, to take better care of my health and to even have lunch on time.
I never knew how my day would be like, will I be in become the founder's shrink mode or listen to their monologue for the next 3 hrs or I would be yelled at and then pretend as if it's acceptable to be told you are worthless, good for nothing.
Another problem I'm facing is there are many people whom I got to this cafe who don't know the reality of this founder who is great in public but completely lashes out to the staff in a way which isn't acceptable at a professional set-up.
Even keeping people who say things like women are meant to work in a kitchen for household purposes and don't stand a chance in a commercial kitchen can really break someone's heart as a woman in the culinary industry.
Work conditions were so bad that I was losing weight due to stress and the hectic travel where I became a ghost in my own home and I literally had to tell the bosses that today is my weekly off otherwise it wouldn't be given on a different day every week.
I would still get work calls on my weekly off which again is something basic which isn't too much to ask for.
I was also handling the company phone calls, whatsApp messages from 9am-10pm (everyday) and stopped looking at my phone for the duration I worked at the cafe.
Somethings are not worth the effort especially for someone ungrateful and who use people like tissues and where people are a replaceable entity and just never listen to any feedback/ideas because they know better.
