I was working as head of data and analytics in Zepto , Swiggy , flipkart now is razorpay. I felt work is of very poorly quality in most Indian startup , no idea of kpi, useless machine learning model , no investment in infrastructure. I think no point in joining any Indian startup as very few founder value data Now I have worked in Walmart and Citibank , core strategic decisions happens in USA and headquarters so Indian office is only pleasing the hq with support work Now analytics service like tiger fractal again work is to do sales bring any work and add to top line Witch company even more shit show So I am delusional and thinking of quitting the data and analytics field or build something of my own Data and Ai in India is just to show off and get investor money and load the pnl without return
If you are the head.... then you are the one who needs to setup the framework for what you qualify as good work in AI and ML.
The Indian founder don't want to invest , just build dashboard and they tell you to cook kpi which is useless
Same thing happening in my company as well.Ceo refuse to invest in data infra and quality annotations. But expect high precision and recall(That too with open source data).Even my seniors and leads couldn't do anything to change this.
@DotingThumb as a head, it’s your job to bring the change. You need to convince the co-founders why to invest and explain the short and long term ROI.
I have told many founders they say they are fine with excel they don't need to spend on cloud infra or they don't want to capture data

If you were head of data and analytics in all those startups, you must be quite experienced and would be having good network in IT industry to know about the places where good work is happening.

What are your educational qualifications? If you wanna work in model development, you might need a PhD or an M.S with a lot of publications.
It's a myth that Indian teams only work on KTLO stuff as there are many teams that work on interesting problems, but they would be looking for certain academic background.
