Where does change begin?

I have wondered where should one draw the line on corruption. Many people feel strongly about corruption and graft. Where does it start and what role do we have to play? Given the comfort of an anonymous platform, hoping to get an honest view of how the educated, salaried class thinks of this.

Do you believe it’s okay to grease the system to get simple day to day things done - driving license, registration office, passport application / renewal, police complaint etc.? Would love to hear about your experience in comments.

Yes, money is the only way to get it done
Yes, money is the easier way to get it done
No, I don’t do it as a principle
Depends - I’m flexible based on the situation

I advocate for better salaries for govt employees and an accountability system so that I don't need to account for a supari fund.

This makes sense.

If we can pay upcharge to internet companies for convenience,
how's it different from greasing the govt system, it's not like we make decisions in a bribe scenario everyday?

We don’t complain about the internet company payment. We complain of corruption 🙃

While I voted on the "depends" option. I want to see the change where No money is needed to do these tasks. Corruption at any level rots the system, be it terrible drivers on the road or food safety and quality issues or bridges and infrastructure collapse due to poor construction quality.

Biggest problem is when there's no option but to bribe, just to keep your life and livelihood running. If the non bribe options were more easily available the situation could shift significantly.

Some positions hold too much power in India. Need accountability more importantly.

I was thinking about it and came across ICAC in Hong Kong, might need something like that here too.
