On a scale of 1-10 how bad is the condition ? Wasn’t there a CTO previously ? Who was he hired in place for ?

But how bad would these people’s skills be if they are joining at 13.5 LPA

People who've been impacted with layoff and are desperate for job due to financial commitments might join at such pay. Though they'll be first to get a better offer and leave the moment market opens up

Can you provide the number and source for validating this ?

My friend was pipped and laid off recently, so Doron is right.

Been at org for 5+years, left it recently. Honestly culture has gone from great to ok to down right rotten over the last 2 years.

  • measuring PR merges or no of commits for devs, quarterly stack ranking based on god knows what, for PIP. (Mind u have personally know cases those who cleared pip still got fired, cause skip level manager/ director didn't like the person).
  • no discussion while planning, everything top driven.
  • every team seems to be working in silos, instead of actually working together to imrove something , have seen multiple instances where same problem is being solved by two different teams.
  • every little thing needs alignment from leaders, can't blame the devs, as managers actually ask not to do without my approval, got myself in arguments with my manager multiple times.
  • scamming devs from acquired company, just giving arbitrary title , reducing salary band and almost doing the same work as other SDE.

Don't think all can be blamed on the CTO, if he was hired to do the exact same thing,

The way I see it, we over hired a lot during COVID growth, when online business was booming, but in terms of growth core business got disrupted by RBI embargo and other verticals (lending, x, international expansion, etc) didn't pan out as per expectations. Now they can't do official lay-off after repeatedly saying publicly and privately we won't do layoff as we have enough capital.

So some fat cut has to come on "extra" resources Directly Via PIP or by changing culture , policies, etc many good engineers who could get offers currently at other org are leaving on their own.

A recruiter friend was saying half the resumes he receives everyday on his database is from Razorpay. PMs and SDEs mostly.

There was a report that 7% of Engineering team resigned.

Is it worth joining razorpay in analytics department?

Razorpay has truly changed over the last 1 year. The entire PMS exercise is flawed. Force fitting into the lowest rating and resulting PIPs are just bad. Need stronger HR leaders amongst other key changes.

Developers leaving Razorpay

Lot of Developers are leaving the company (specially frontend) because of low salaries, limited scope of work and Return to office policy. Company is silently creating an atmosphere where developers are leaving on their own.

Razorpay is too smart!

The company did around 10-15% silent layoffs in the last cycle by putting people in PIP. My Manager told me that he has pressure on him to put at least 1 or 2 people in PIP, make them leave the company and reduce costs.

Later, the c...
