Whatever is happening to comedians in this country is very disappointing for freedom expression.

Earlier Munawar Faruqui, Samay Raina and now Kunal Kamra

Even I sympathise with Kunal Kamra. He had to delete his jokes on a particular religion as soon as he became famous. It must be terrifying.

P.S.: As long as you defend and encourage one sided freedom of expression, you definitely don't care about freedom of expression, you just care about virtue signalling and feeling good about yourself. And outside your echo chamber, frankly no one cares about that. Cry and crib all you want. The people who seemed to be so concerned about FOE when BJP does something like this prefers looking the other way when a Mamata or Maharashtra Congress does way worse

Politicians are used to comment anything about other politicians, political parties; in the parliament, media, election rallies etc. It has become a routine that common people just ignore it, but politicians can file a defamation case, now that’s a separate discussion where they draw the line so that it doesn’t become defamation considering defamation law.

But when it comes to FoE of common people and comedians, when they share opinions and joke about politicians-political parties then it should be allowed under FoE and protected by constitution. Currently, politicians has so much power that they try to silence anyone and that’s threatening to democracy and FoE.

See principally I agree with whatever you are saying but you get my point, right? In our country people get concerned about FOE only if somebody they like or agree with gets affected.

Each passing day this country is becoming unlivable! We need a strong opposition party and place for people to raise their concerns. Like see USA, there the elected officials hold townhall. Here you see those people only during elections and then they are gone till next elections. If you have means then leaving this country is best option imho

Agreed, whatever words used during standup are just for fun and making people laugh. This should not be taken so seriously.Comedy is necessary in this stressful world to reduce some stress. Also it’s choice to watch or not to watch. We watch series where we enjoy words MC,BC but obviously we don’t take it’s literal meaning. Just enjoy it without imagining the actual scene in your mind 🥂

Maybe they should take citizenship of Saudi and try doing "this comedy" there. Will be fun to see the outcome.

He's an Indian citizen. Why should he be worried about Saudi?

Don't like Kunal Kamra at all, but destroying a venue is downright reprehensible and dangerous. Day by day, my hope in this nation is decreasing.
