What is the morale of employees in company where layoff happens

I am seeing lots of startups are firing these days even previous year it was happening.

Would like to know the mindset of employees who got saved. Like to know what goes inside your head. How do you deal with this situation as it can happen with who got saved somehow, etc etc

Survived layoffs thrice somehow, it fucks up your health immensely. Everyone asks you to be prepared for the worst including your manager bcs that’s how non transparent it is. But honestly, it doesn’t feel great even after being saved. Watching your friends leave and realising that you can still be let go is very disturbing.

The only good thing that comes out of this is you’re well prepared for interviews and assignments bcs the horror of being let go beats procrastination every day.

My company went through many rounds of layoffs in this 1 year. I don't know why I am still here or why I survived.
Sometimes it feels like it would have been better if I was laid off. Currently we have to continue working with an uncertain future. It's hard to find motivation of you don't know if your efforts will be of any use and you feel like you can get laid off at any moment.
When I try to apply for other jobs a lot of them want immediate joiners. It's stressful and confusing. But i guess preparing for interviews and trying to switch is the only option for now.
