I was giving an interview for a Reactjs dev at Ford with tech Mahindra. The interviewer (let's say Mr KS)who was taking the interview has worked previously with Qburst and Infosys. He asked me a few questions and I answered whatever I knew and remaining I politely said not remembering.
He was least interested in hearing my answers. Then he asked me to code in his local machine by requesting control. I requested control. Due to lag I asked him to copy a few things but he started saying rudely I have to copy, it's my job.
So that api was running on his local and vs code was also open in his local. Once I did the api integration, he realised he made some mistakes in the Java back-end and abruptly took control, stopped screen sharing and started debugging.
And for the next 20 minutes he didn't even speak a word. I asked him shall I continue and finish the task, he said no and asked me to wait till he fixed.
I had a conflict call at work so i asked him that I could rejoin at 7pm, and he agreed.
At 7 pm he asked me to continue, I continued. Once I did the API integration, he asked me a few variations. I did that, now he asked me to use the API calling in a different way. Let me remind you 30 mins have already completed. Later he argued why I didn't set the state variable to empty in the catch block and how I can handle the error, I explained I will maintain a state variable and based on that i will conditionally render. He started arguing, at that time he had crossed the red line, I gathered all my strength and started giving responses in loud voices.
After this he asked me to implement searching and sorting functionality, I was so angry that whatever he asked I straightforwardly said no, even if I knew the answer.
At the end he just cuts the call. Without even saying anything. I mean what kind of interview was that, you belong to tamilnadu I am not from the southern state, was that the reason why this kind of behaviour. On the linkedin you have mentioned 2.6k followers, go ahead and post it, I don't give a damn.
You think you cracked ford means you have achieved a significant thing.
And at the end I dropped a mail to the recruiter. I know nothing will happen. Needed to vent out hence posted over here.
