What do we think about the ongoing brutal layoffs at Google?

That has made me seriously look at non-FAANG jobs. FAANG no longer pays the best and no longer is the best work culture, is something I am starting to realise the more I talk to my friends about it.

I understand @salt . I feel like politics is everywhere even in startups, why not join there for a year or two and move out to get better offer. I wonder how is the culture in locations outside India

Politics is sadly everywhere. The only thing one can do is keep looking down, work hard and gun for a role that brings you joy. Stay married to your career not your company.

Very hush hush internally at Google about this right now. Everyone knows about it but nobody seems to acknowledge it in my team. I have realised that even if I was the smartest person on the planet I couldnt change the trajectory of Google. I have made my money and I am thinking of going to a smaller company.

FAANG unattractive in 2024

Looking at so many layoffs at Google, Cloudflare and FAANG-type comoanies; that too in spite of having profitable quarters makes me think of FAANG is a curse instead of blessing? Anyone with similar thoughts?
