What are your views on ESOPs?

Would you take an offer that gives you a lesser fixed and more ESOPs?

Do you ask for ESOPs when negotiating an offer?

Does anyone think this is just paper money and most of the companies try to give it in the name of valuable contributions or boosting your wealth creation?

I'm not a fan of ESOPs. But if it's RSUs, go for it. Get ESOPs on top of the cash component. Never compromise cash component for ESOP as it's liquidity takes too much time and sometimes never happen too. Also you have to pay and buy those stocks whenever you leave the org within a defined time. Whereas for RSU, once it's vested it's yours and you have to pay tax on that amount as it's already yours.
