the old advice about q1 and q3 being peak hiring seasons is from a different market. the pattern i'm seeing across the industry and in grapevine threads for early 2026 isn't a peak, it's a slow thaw. feb and march showed the first real signs of life in tech hiring after a long freeze. you're not timing a sprint anymore, you're just looking for the first open lane on the highway.

Based on my 2 time switch experience.....peak is Jan to March then second peak is May to July....worst is last 3 months.
