What are some ways you would like to contribute back to society?

Guys, I am living in a remote part of Rajasthan and working remotely from there as a software engineer.

For almost 12 years (for education purposes), I was away from home, but this recent switch gave me the opportunity to spend some time with my parents.

While staying here in the village, I am thinking of contributing back to the village.

I am thinking of starting weekly workshops where I would visit schools, interact with student, and help them be aware of technology, the internet, etc.

Need your help in getting some more ideas about what can I cover in these workshops.

Also, I would like to know ways you guys think of contributing back to society. May be not now, but I'm sure many people do think of doing something for others someday.

I will be here for almost 1.5 years, so I want to make it count. (That is my plan, but things can change)

Appreciate your thoughts...

Most of the weekends u will be free...

  1. Visit a nearby school

  2. Ask dream of each student.

  3. Kindle their curiosity and take it to zenith in nth session.

  4. Let them know about all career options after 10th or 12th.

  5. Explain to them ai, semiconductor, astronomy and quantum computing in lucid manner.

Wait...if u r for 18m in ur Village in west most corner of Rajasthan...u can create a biz out of dis.

Pick smart and high iq students from 12th or college who can create websites and develop apps.

Train them using YT and ur past experience.

Bring AI into picture, do some content marketing, get clients from there and create apps/websites for Bharat.

Just start with teaching kids. Start with one student. Give personal time to them and help them with career and study planning.

You can also look into solar power installations for Street lights and public goods, or water conservation. Plenty of scope there.

Can you share more about your experience? NGO or for profit?

Have been involved with 2 non-profits so far:

  1. Based in Rajasthan - The non-profit in itself has a lot of things it works towards. I had my fair share of projects I was working on too (building a lab course for kids pre 10th grade, building a structure to provide food to the BPL folks, medical camps for localites, etc)
  2. Based in Hyderabad - org works towards education for the marginalised. I work in R&D. We have a couple of initiatives we are working there as well. Currently working to build a community from scratch for the non-profit space.

Would love to interact with people who would be interested in working towards that and the other initiatives (we are working on in the second org), and are up for a chat!

I think we are already contributing a lot by paying all the taxes, which is more than most professions.

Ha ha ha... But paying taxes doesn't give satisfaction... instead it creates panic

Appreciate your initiative. One thing I observed in the rural part of Maharashtra is, 1.5GB data per day is more of a curse, people spend hours on short form videos and WhatsApp forwards. Need to make people understand how this 1.5GB per day can be converted into opportunity. They need to know the world outside their village, and harness the power of the internet. There are so many videos on YouTube, blogs for doing advanced agri. Online can procure raw material for agri, small shops can avail cheaper digital loans. There is a lot of scope.

Beat would be fund or become sponsor of local primary school as that age most kids drop out .. not sure how much kids would be able to relate to tech and other stuff u have plans to teach.. i sponsor meals for 50kids for a month back in my hometown as the food quality is not good otherwise

Try giving them some tasks that can give you a better view about their current thinking from their pov. As in school, some students could be more happy to know about technology but others could simply be more happy to hear about history. I hope you are getting my pov.
