🧠From a Tier-3 College to a Remote Full Stack Developer Role — My Journey So Far
I’m a 2024 Computer Science graduate from a tier-3 college — part of our first-ever batch.
Straight out of college, I landed a ₹5 LPA full-stack developer role at a startup incubated within our own college. As freshers, we poured everything into building something meaningful. But within a year, things took a turn.
The same startup hired juniors at ₹3.5 LPA and slowly started pushing out half of us — labeling us “unproductive” or “not up to the mark.” It was hard. Many of us didn’t get proper feedback or support, just pressure to leave.
I took that as a push to grow — and recently switched to a ₹6.5 LPA fully remote developer role. It’s a step up, but I know it’s just the beginning.
🧠Now I’m genuinely curious — and seeking guidance from those who’ve walked the path ahead of me:
👉 How can someone like me — from a modest background, with 1 year of startup experience — break into roles with double-digit salaries (₹20–30 LPA and beyond)?
What skills, stacks, or projects made the difference for you?
Is it open-source? DSA? System design? Product work?
Is it possible through remote gigs or freelance experience?
How long did it take you to reach there?
If you’ve made a big leap in your career — or even if you’re just ahead by a few steps — I’d love to hear your story. I believe in learning from real people with real journeys more than anything else.
