Week 0 : Aim to improve technically and have Career growth

So hello Everyone , A short intro , i am a 2023 grad , fumbled a 32 lpa SDE job in last round in college placement . I was among the last 2 out of 500 students and the other guy got selected or you can say i run out of luck.🙂 This left a scar ,guilt and trauma, however got placed as a cloud engineer during last week of my college.

I always wanted to do development and create stuffs . My current role is more of a support so now I want to switch . Yoe :1 year 2 months Salary:9 lpa (7.5 base) Fully remote

i had solved around 220+ questions on leetcode and had a good grip on DSA but it’s been a year since i solved any questions there. So now i will again start coding and solving leetcode from STRIVER A to Z dsa course and working on harkirat 0-100 development projects.

I aim to make myself interview ready at the end of week 5 while keeping my current job and then look for interviews during my notice period. I am ready to take a leap of faith and grind hard .

I will keep updating on every Sunday about number of questions and development projects i worked on . Hope it motivates you all to improve and get better at life .

I am going to use this sub to record my weekly improvements .

I am open to any suggestions by my people here .

Wish me luck ✨

Dsa course : I didn't take up any course during my dsa preparation [ started from scratch ], do you really need them? You will be able to find everything online for free. I feel question lists like blind 75, leetcode top 150 interview questions are pretty good. Pls share your experience about the course.

What is the harkirat development projects?

Why do you need to switch within 5 weeks? If possible, I would advise against having hard deadlines. Its good to have dates in mind, but rather than deciding based on dates, wouldn't it be better to appear for interviews only when you are really ready?

If you switch now, you will get a sde 1 position where base salary could be 20-25L and probably not more. Plus, you wouldn't get promoted within a next couple of yrs. It makes sense if you get to very good companies.
But if you switch at 2yr of exp, you may end up getting a sde-2 role with base salary around 30-40L range.

Really thank you for words man but I want to clarify i am not buying any DSA course, strivers youtube playlist on DSA is completely free and i am just following his sheet. I have gone through his videos during mid 2022 before my college placement. So now i am just trying to again grasp the concept and solve leetcode questions.

For harkirat it’s mern stack course teaching front end ,backend development so just to have a better roadmap i am using it.

I don’t aim to switch within 5 weeks , my aim to be prepared enough for interviews and excel them . Learn and improve myself in 5 weeks is my goal . I will start looking for switch after that .

And to answer why switching right now is i am in cloudops role and I want to switch to SDE role as soon as possible because it would be too hard to switch from cloudops to SDE if spent more than 2 years in support.

All the very best. Prepare hard, give great interviews, grab multiple offers and negotiate very very hard.
