- Carry cash. If you're going further north, even more important. But be careful of crowded places as November is still crowded being a shoulder season.
- Be wary of scams. Read up on various scams.
- People suggest Grab. But if you have IDP, you can get bike, scooty, car too. Works better since you're solo.
Anything in particular that you want to know?

Carry mosquito repellent and some ready-to-wear food(most Indians find Vietnamese food to be bland). Carry USD from India and convert to local currency as and when necessary. Learn a few Vietnamese phrases to interact with locals.

Please go through reddit posts regarding it. There is a post of some guy spending just 50k for 11 days and he bought a macbook air in Vietnam as well. Read his post lot of insights in that

-
Get a Forex Card – Super handy for paying at cafés, stores, etc. Safer than carrying a ton of cash.
-
Viettel SIM at the Airport – Grab it right after landing in HCM or Hanoi. Best coverage.
-
Use GRAB – Your go-to app for bike taxis, cabs, and even food delivery.
-
Visit Nha Trang – Peaceful beach town. Personally found it better than Da Nang.
That said, Da Nang’s Dragon Bridge has a cool fire show on Sundays. Worth catching if you’re around.
-
Hoi An – If you’re into ancient vibes and chill places, Hoi An is stunning.
-
Cash is King (with a twist) –
Carry USD ($100 bills) from India (4–5 of them).
Convert to VND (Dong) locally — better rates than INR and easier to manage bulk cash.
-
Avoid layovers at CCU (Kolkata) – Airport experience isn’t great.
-
Train Travel Tips – Carry mosquito repellent and hygiene stuff. It can get rough.
-
Avoid Buses for Internal Travel – Not worth it.
-
Cat Ba > Ha Long – Less touristy, more raw, and absolutely beautiful.
-
Stay in Hanoi’s Old Quarter – Best for culture, street food, and vibes.

Thank you soo much for this detailed pointers. You don't know how much this gonna help me
