Trying to build a business

Need help from you guys. I earn a decent amount of money without having to spend much time. Now I wish to spend my spare time (say 6 to 8 hrs in a day) to do something fruitful and also earn an extra income. I want to know what is the recent trend, Affiliate marketing, Streaming, ChapGPT, Stock markets. I don't mind spending 2-3 years without any income, but I want to build something that is scalable. PS - I am from a finance background and work in the stock markets. So publishing research reports on companies is something that comes natural to me. What is the TAM for this. Would you be willing to pay Rs. 5000 for an annual subscription if I publish a report on 12 or 24 small / mid caps in a year. Or maybe IPO research.

There are dozen a dime companies with big research teams charging in 6 digits yet they struggle to beat even Nifty. The people who are saying "yes" are amateurs who don't even have a 10 year experience in markets nor i doubt if they can even name 200 scrip names without searching on Internet. Don't bank on them. Put a model portfolio public and track the results for yourself. Stock market products have a good future. Anyone can give research on a company. What matters is the result though.

BTW, you also need an RIA license to do that.

Short answer - Yes.

5K pa is not a big sum for a subscription that potentially has a multifold yield.

Whats also a big gap for individual investors is a service which can provide equity analyst reports from multiple research houses - and layer an aggregate wrapper analysis on top.

Thanks for the feedback. Some of these research companies earn more than those who run PMS, that too without any risk.

They do! Analysis and Research at scale is a mega margin business.

Outside of equity analysis- Look at Gartner. Just reports and events. More profitable at scale than the tech companies they research.

I dont think people would spend 5k on reports. People are looking to get returns on their investment and hence only looking for stock recommendations. Your target audience would be people who already are building reports but don't have enough time to see through multiple companies. To sell to general public, you could teach them how to build reports(or how do you spot multibaggers or something on those lines).
