Transition from Service-Based to Product-Based Role

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for advice on making the switch from a service-based company to a product-based one. My current role is in a non-IT field (SAP) , but I’m eager to move into a software development role where I can work on meaningful projects. I have a year of experience, though I was on the bench for about 9 months and haven’t had much hands-on experience with projects so far.

I’d really appreciate any tips on how to make this transition, especially around:

Developing relevant skills and building a project portfolio to showcase in interviews.

Resources or certifications that would be most useful.

How to frame my experience when applying for product-based roles.

I Have a good grasp on DSA.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice you can share!

Oh, so you were on the bench for 9 months? That's like a professional vacation! Anyway, build a project portfolio, get some certifications, and flaunt your DSA skills. Good luck!
