Hi Grapeviners, I have ten years of work ex in performance marketing and CRM. I started job search actively from Feb 15 this year and landed first interview today.
How bad is the market out there. I usually get hired with in 30 job applications, also I apply to the role only if 70% and above role match with my previous experience also use referrals when available.

Being a tier 3 college grad, It took me 700 applications to get 25 shortlists, and only 7 interview calls. Converted all of them.

Definitely, but in job. In Resume shortlisting, its far more easier for tier 1 college grads, specially in non-tech domain.

I don't think it's a reflection of the market. I think we're just coming back from a crazy employee-favoured market.
We're living in times of fake job reqs during hiring freezes, companies claiming that they "never fire" while putting 10-15% of their workforce on PIP and layoffs in highly profitable companies.
We're in the age of the great big VC fuck up.
The problem is that hiring is being linked with public perception, and as a result there is a lot of secrecy around things that were very transparent.
It's very likely that 20-30% of your job reqs are just out there to show the market that this company "can" hire in these times.

I've only been getting ghosted by recruiters after THEY reach out to me expressing interest in my profile! It's always after they ask about salary, notice period etc. My salary is okayish for my level and np is 30 days so I'm guessing they are cheaping out as much as they can. Can't wait for QE when tech companies start having competition again and the ones who were cheaping out all this time struggle to clear their tech debt.

@BaatMaan This is worse than not having interviews or having rejects. Hope this beating around the bush ends soon.

Even I haven't yet had an interview in this phase. It's just the initial call/mail from the recruiter's side.

Bro I’m facing somewhat similar experience. I have almost 2 YOE(as SDE) and I m facing lots of difficult in getting my resume shortlisted in different company. I don’t think my resume lacks in so much skill that it can be rejected by a recruiter.Out of 60 applications I have applied I just got 4 rejection and 0 positive responses. I have no clue what to do.

Hi! Curious to know how you are applying for the jobs? I am also in a job hunt and any tactical insights would help! How much time did it take you to apply for 60 jobs? How many applications do you submit each day?

@BulletRaja LinkedIn in, Naukri, indeed, IIM jobs in this order of priority.
I spend an hour or two a day going through joblistings , short list them and then apply. But because of this approach job applications are ~1 per day which is absymally low. Don't want to apply for the roles which are less than 70% profile fit as I don't intend to waste time for recruiter or me.
