To all the people looking for jobs and not getting call backs.

Hey peps, If you are looking at this post there is a high possibility that you are for a job.

I was laid off from a startup in April 2024 having only 9 months of experience and it took me around 5 months to get my second job and hence here I have curated few findings which I found while floating and experimenting through these 5 months .

  • Hiring is a long process, don't expect results in just a few days it's a few months process, once you apply except you will get its outcome in a bunch of weeks/ months .

  • Your count starts when you give the first round of an interview not when you apply.

  • Apply and forget . When you get the interview, prepare, in preparation try to understand what the company is and what it wants . See Glassdoor leetcode ambition box and reddit discussion evaluate everything which is publicly available. Turn your preparation into company centric once you get the interview. Research is the key .

  • For portals use Naukri, Instahyre, Linkdin, Ambition box, Glassdoor and don't be afraid to switch roles, analyze what business and market wants and how easy can you adopt . I was a devops engineer, I switched to ai and backend .

  • I got my last two jobs from linkedin easy apply and naukri .

  • Don't think about the results, keep applying intervening and don't commit the same set of mistakes and above all be patient with yourself, hiring is a long process and remember you don't have to be the best, you just have to be the person who survives .

  • Make a good CV, I would suggest make multiple cvs for multiple roles and keep changing and updating, use latex and make sure it has high ats score .

  • Lastly don't be disheartened it's a marathon not a race .

  • Be you, be passionate and kill it .

Context: 10.5 YOE, Marketing lead. I've been looking for a switch since September last year. I'd seen signs of maybe my role or the company itself folding very early and knew 'twas time to bolt. But it's not that easy. Back then - 1 year...
