IIT Madras, just like Indian parents, parents’ relatives, parents’ friends, Sharma Ji, coaching institutes, companies coming to campus, companies when you apply off-campus, companies(few ones) when you are 10 years into your job, Nuakri dot com, Linkedin, Twitter, Jeevansaathi dot com, Tinder, Hinge, Ashley Madison,… thinks that JEE rank is the absolute benchmark of quality.

What a regressive stance.

By doing this, what have they admitted -

• We don’t get good quality CS/Elec students
• Students in existing IITM CS/Elec courses are inferior to IITB/IITD
• Our professors/ Curriculum/ Btech research initiatives are incapable of bridging the “gap”
• Our placement cell is incapable of attracting good quality jobs for CS/Elec graduates, and we need the tag of XX students under JEE 200 to do that
