Amsterdam or The Netherlands is a great place, for anyone not just for family. Can't say about salary. Indians in The Netherlands usually settled in Amstelveen (Amsterdam) but Amsterdam has become way too costly. So lot of people moved/bought homes in Almere - close to Amsterdam. There's also significant Indian diaspora in Utrecht, Den Haag, and Hilversum.
Suggestions: Majority speak English, but try learning a bit of Dutch if you want to mingle. Connect with Indian diaspora on social media or LinkedIn to know more. Do calculate your income & expenses as Netherlands (& Amsterdam) is expensive. They've a 50% tax rate, but the facilities you get are pretty good. Their public transport is amazing. Their punctuality is even more amazing. 7:00 is 7:00, not 7:05 not 7:10.
Pro-tip: If you don't have a driver's license in India, get one here before moving there. Having it makes it a bit easier to get a Dutch license.
Warnings: Dutch can be very straight, can come off rude so be prepared. There's also a wave of negativism/hatred towards the migrants, not as bad as US though. It's just there mainly because of their open border policy & heavy migration in recent times from Middle East & Ukraine. Indians are still okay in their eyes I guess.
Also, I'm curious - why did you choose Amsterdam? Motives to move there?
