The Bangalore Virus: We are all living on Autopilot
Wake up. Check Teams. Standup. Work till 8 PM. Order dinner on Swiggy... Cali Burrito if I'm feeling disciplined. Watch Netflix while scrolling some app (Insta if indisciplined, X if disciplied). Sleep. Repeat.
I know you’re reading this thinking, "This isn't me, I have a life.", but it’s all of us.
There is a virus in this city, and it’s not the traffic or the pollen. It’s the inability to just be. Look around any road HSR or Indiranagar. Every single 'smart' person has AirPods glued to their ears. We are terrified of being alone with our own thoughts for even 10 minutes. If the podcast stops, the existential dread sets in.
We earn 30-40 LPA, but where does it go? It goes into buying back time we sold to our employers. We pay premium for Instamart because we can't walk 500m to the kirana store. We pay 4K for a brunch in Lavonne just to take a photo for a story, proving we "stepped out".
Weekend "fun" is just getting wasted at some microbrewery because we are too mentally exhausted to have a sober conversation. We aren't living; we are just buffering between Jira tickets and hangovers.
Take the AirPods off for once. It’s scary how quiet your life actually is.

Not everyone earns the same bro

And btw this is not exclusive to Bangalore I just feel it's more pronounced here cuz more young population...

Bruhhhh this is even in Pune lol

Reading this with a California Burrito bowl in hand. Jokes apart if you're up for a challenge come join us 3 days a week for BJJ in Indiranagar. We're a small group of FAANG people and indie hackers that do MMA and build stuff.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about how much energy we waste on unrealistic expectations. We’re all running a race that doesn’t have a finish line, and it’s leaving us frustrated and lonely.
What if we stopped adjusting our goals based on what we see online and started adjusting them based on what we actually need?
• Prioritize work-life balance over the hustle. • Choose a digital detox over endless scrolling. • Trade fancy, unsatisfying trends for simple, mindful moments.
Let's stop comparing and start appreciating. Who’s with me?

Imagine doing this routine with more responsibilities .. taking care of kids . Cooking , spend weekends in doing chores which were ignored working 8 hours . There is no point to life sometimes

True

Lot of projection in this. Desperation to normalise it so that you don't feel like the loser you are. Also 30-40? What are we poor?
I'll share my schedule a lil bit, hope that helps ->
Wake up -> around 8am Check email -> just to know whats happening Office -> 10am to 5pm (roughly 1.5hrs of commute in a day) Home time -> 5:30pm onwards
I usually try to exercise thrice a week after returning, I also have a collection of games that I am trying to complete. If I feel motivated I read a book, or read some articles. I used to practice art and study maths, when my schedule eases up a bit I'll restart.

People gotta learn what it means to live
