Temba’s South Africa - GOAT!

People in India live to throw cheap potshots for ideas that are abive their paygrade and IQ.

As the world celebrates the SA WTC achievement, it's a lesson for India, especially as we wrestle with the reservation debate.

Watching a team break free from decades of underachievement, you can’t help but think about what happens when you allow a system to work as planned, it's not a 5 or 10 year experiment, it takes generations to yield results.

And so, we are clear, reservation isn’t charity. It’s a tool to repair historic wrongs and give the marginalized a real chance to compete. When implemented with intent and integrity, it has the power to lift entire communities out of poverty and change the narrative for families who’ve never known opportunity.

And what's funny (or pathetic), the loudest critics of reservation are the ones masking their own inadequacies and insecurities.

In a country with 1.5 mouths to feed, hypercompetition is inevitable, so woman up (need the stronger gender here). You can't just be a crybaby, blaming the system's rigged.

Reservation, done right, can motivate a generation to rise above their circumstances and deliver at the highest level.

The real challenge is to stop using it as a punching bag for our own insecurities and start seeing it for what it is: a tool to build a fairer, more ambitious India.

Really excited for what's in store for South Africa - This will be an inspiration for years to come.

There is a keyword in your own statement which is not happening in India: "if Done Right"

There Is a third generation ias getting in upsc utilising reservation. Is this right?

There are doctors and engineers who are not as qualified (or in many cases even qualified) to practice. Is this right?

Would you rather have a lawyer defend you in court who is able to understand law and research precedents or one who got degree despite getting negative marks in entrance exams?

What I want to say is give financial, and other tangible and intangible support to study and compete, but there could be some parity at the time of selection/admission, but reservation in the current form is just a political tool.

That’s a fair criticism.

I always maintain, reservation can be an entry criteria, but never an exit one.

If you are not good enough to pass medical/law/engineering college, you can’t get the degree.

Whether JEE/NEET/CLAT score determines your ability - is a very weak argument with questionable logic

Reservation is a political tool - Yes, unfortunately. Can’t do much about it.

Whether there should be a monetary component along with caste based reservation- probably. Will the loophole be exploited, definitely.

Whether 3rd Gen IAS needs reservation- probably not. Are they evil to avail reservation- probably not. You will also take Beti-Behen 30k if the government is offering it to you for free.

How many such cases exit compared to the hundreds if thousands that get uplifted- that’s your call to make…
