Hey, is creating a side project really important? Say I make a good side project and have it uploaded in Git will it really make extra weightage? Have you guys done projects that helped to get into a good product based company?

Yes it does help alot in both tech and selling yourself. A github with stars and forks is regarded very high in indian ecosystem they are very few. Its also a gateway to giving talks, getting into the community etc.
I have received offers only from github repos.

Yes bcoz as tech ppl we do not undergo strict and defined training like surgeons so we need to keep upskilling and prove our worth
