Should one go back to their ex company?

I used to work for this company (let's call it ex-company), it was kinda my first job out of college. I wasn't super early, but considering the size of the team now, I was one of the earliest employees.

I left the company after working there for around a year as I wanted a different role and a work life balance. I've been working in this new company for 1 year now and in hindsight, it was a bad career move.

The ex company is now hiring for a role I'm interested in but I'm not sure if I should apply. Or if I would even be able to crack their interview now. 😅

Should I apply? Is it common to go back to a company you left before?

You moved for a different role and better wlb. If your wlb will suck at the earlier company, then why go back.

If thats not an issue, and you liked the earlier co, why not go back!

TCS rehire policy
