Should I join a startup with 50% hike but no PF or Form 16?

Hi everyone, I’m currently working at KPIT Technologies (Pune) and got an offer from a Nagpur-based startup with a 50% hike.

But here’s the concern —

  • No PF
  • No salary slip or Form 16
  • Payment in USD (after invoice), credited in INR
  • Bank transfer won’t show company name

Will this affect my future job switch or background verification? Has anyone faced a similar situation before? What would you suggest — take the offer or stay where I am?

Looking for honest advice from experienced folks

Better avoid if you are in the starting phase of your career... Or take it as moonlighting...

This will probably qualify as consulting or freelance work, you will need to show it that way

A big red flag cause it will always fail in BGV without PF and payslip proof.

You might show this as freelancing at max.
And freelancing projects have high risk - can close at anytime.

No. It will certainly cause issues in background verification. Besides, 50% is hardly much. If they are asking for this illegal route, they should have been offering 500%!!

Don't join, it will affect your future job switch. Take offer put paper and get another offer from any good company.

Or negotiate with current company with this new offer.

Always add TC when asking such questions.

Not experienced, but have read about it enough due to opportunities. If the USD payment is significant only then consider taking such things. I'm saying because only then you can get the tax advantage out of contract work (you are basically exporting your services) using the presumptive income section.

Don't listen to bgv FUD, just make sure to mention yourself as a contractor and show them your invoices. You aren't doing anything illegal, and company HR has the final say in anything.

44AD is the section. It is a pretty significant tax saving tool used by contractors.

But make sure the company has ZERO presence in India, otherwise you'll have to pay GST.

It is not illegal, but looks like they are treating you like a consultant or on-contract person .

Usually US Companies do this in US and sometimes in the US people look for these kinds of roles .

It will be difficult for you to go for the next job switch esp while applying for larger companies.

"YOU ARE TRAPPED"

It's just like dihadi majdoor

Just get your daily wages and no linkup

If you can't leave at least earn till you get something better. Else leave and either start something of your own or stay humble..

If you have a business mind or family background, USE it.

If not, just improve your skill set and wait until you get something better while improving yourself

And don't give up.

Opportunities never come when you want it, it comes when you are required.

So be patient.

My honest suggestion: Do something which creat opportunity for others not just for yourself.
