should I continue in the job?
my exp 15+ yrs, 40 year old have 2cr+ in savings+equity+fds wife is working 1 year old kid no liabilities of emi etc current sal 1cr+
work is getting painful in a rev organisation of a large company, loads of finger pointing.
boss is mainly a sales guy, shoots off the hip first and then thinks. doesn't get into details (which boss does! and I am a boss too :-))
i am more in ops + prod kind of role in the team, my team, which I have joined recently, is a rather ordinary one. have 1-2 heros, but others are a pain. most of these are legacy recruits or non co-operative ones.
changing them and getting new folks will be a huge lead time, creating a reason for the existing ones to leave and then get new ones.
expectations are sky high and I know it will be a bumpy ride
unable to spend time at home with the kid.
what do you think I shud do?

stay for few more years , actual recession will start after Jan-25 when new US president comes , he will be more conservative and likely lots of policy changes. Even before that there are many salary cuts happening so my suggestion is save as much as possible bcoz economists aren’t sure on the magnitude of economic change but they are sure if Donald comes trade restrictions will be dramatic. Modi too is likely coming and Putin already there so BRICS too will have their own institutional formula.

interesting view...
sometimes I believe folks like me are in the very privileged layer...decent money no much liabilities and have a working functioning mind and body. so long as one can have a decent 1-1.5L net monthly, and partner working, one should be able to do away with corp BS

Am just curious how u don't have more saved even with a 1cr salary?

i have a flat in my name, no emi on it. infact my cash and cash equv with house etc. 3cr+
1cr sal is since my current job which is a few months old.
the fact of the matter is in the last few years a lot of people's variable pay has not been dished out due to macro factors.
I have some 1cr additional esops in a edtech, which might turn to dust the way edtedh is heading.

Got it

It certainly gets harder as you age in IT. I think very few will make it to even 45 in our generation. For your case, since you have no emi or liabilities if you can stretch your net worth to 5cr you should be all set. With your ctc even after taxes that should take 3 to 4 yts unless the economy goes down the toilet. Till then just slog it out.

Am in similar situation like yours but in different way, kind of gave up promotion to look out for wife and now a kid, seniors from other team have taken over since their PO was not renewed in their project.they are now undermining my efforts. I didn't fight this. Was thinking of taking a break and joining other org.
What's the plan for joining back (a job) if break is taken? Do you know anyone who can fit you somewhere?
How much of your net worth will dwindle if you take a break? Will you be able to handle it?
Are all your expenses covered with inflow other than your salary?
What your wife thinks about you leaving job?

very very pertinent points
firstly thankfully wife has a decent job... steady income...she is currently on mat leave.
getting back into a job... my sense is i might consider a job that's either a gig based, or a teaching one. i have done both in the past ..and am confident of doing it to generate some 1-2L or more a month.
