Running out of time

My dad suffered a massive brain stroke 5 years back. He was a well known surgeon back then but after the stroke, left side of his body was left paralysed due to which he cannot operate anymore. I was strictly against him leaving the urge to improve (physiotherapy, brain games etc) but after a while all he started doing was puja and visiting temples in this condition. During these 5 years I could see him deteriorate.. Low awareness, memory loss, loss of interest to do things he once loved doing. This has been painful. I myself have a 2 year gap but after struggling in every aspect of life (I was a below average student), I finally got a job and am earning decent. I do want to switch or go for an MBA. This weekend my parents visited me in Bangalore for the first time. I have bought a new bike which I was very happy about and I could feel how proud my dad was. Unfortunately, today when he woke up his short term memory is lost. He is not able to recollect where he is. His tests are normal and he is slowly recovering but this has shattered me. Why is god testing me and my family all the time? Even a small thing like doing a job and buying a bike seems to have angered god.

I don’t think my dad will see me at a level they had always expected me to be at. There just isn’t enough time I feel. It’s not that I am not putting in effort. I am but things never work out well. Seeing his fall alone is so painful. His colleagues are now deans of medical colleges and he is not able to do the things that he once loved doing. His colleagues’s sons are in high paying jobs abroad and I am not able to do that. I don’t need a fairy tale ending but can I at least not have a normal life? I am doing everything to make our lives better. A job, side business, YouTube, higher studies prep but nothing is working out well. I never want him to feel sorry about his life by realising that at least he raised a good son

Chin up man
You are doing a great job by taking good care of your dad
More power to you in the era where children are not staying with their parents and you are taking good care of him , at the end pure intention matters

Stop comparing with others. Focus on your life and family. Do your best, that's all you can do.

Please don't lose hope. I'm not sure if someone has said it but as a fellow human being I'm really proud of you man. Even after all of this you're fighting and not giving up.

And please don't link getting a bike being a reason for all you're going though. The god who loves her children would never do that. And if she does, shes not worth praying to.

I hope you achieve what you wish for. We shall overcome some day!

तन को पत्थर बन जाने दे।

तू स्वयं तेज भयकारी है,

क्या कर सकती चिनगारी है? "

Wow! You're a great son! Who said doing well in this life only means earning well.
Doing well means - Balancing the situation to get the best results. You're already doing this.

There's a reason behind everything! Your karma decides all that has happened, will happen and is happening in your life! Better to surrender to the Supreme, goto a nearby Iskcon temple and start reading the Bhagavad Gita your life will change 360 degrees!

Don’t worry bro… everything will be fine
And also stop comparing yourself to others .just focus on your life , expect less , give more . Trust me you will find peace if you stop expecting and just focus on yourself. Think positive every time

Be grateful man that your dad is still there for you. Mine passed away a month due to a stroke as well, totally out of a sudden.
