Roadmap for getting hired in Global Remote Companies

I've 5 years of experience in startups working around multiple programming languages and working all the way from Backend to Databases to DevOps.

For the past 2 months I've applied to more than 200+ global companies or startups who hire remotely. I don't know what I am doing wrong because I got rejected from most of them. One pointer I've seen is most of them are hiring for more senior folks.

Companies I've applied like - Ghost.org, fly.io, toggl, buffer.com etc.

The competition for these organizations are furious I know that but what can I do to improve my chances? Because I've tried the referral way as well they do not give referral to people they do not know.

Any suggestions?

I can relate. I have applied to the Canonical and PHP Foundation. Both rejected me without much explanation. But, I got hired by a UK based firm out of luck, they asked me if I could fix their problem and I said yes. So they hired me. 2 years I still work with them but it is a freelance contract, not a full time. As for big open source company like ghost, I think you need more than just experience. You will need a proven track record with public talks, open source contributions, and/or published books. But this is just my speculation. A friend of mine told me their company prefers existing contributors of their open source projects.

Can't help, mine was out of nowhere. I never found anyone else with a long term contract. Only a few bug fixes here and there.

The hiring market is cornered by third parties. You won't get any bhau applying directly, they won't even bother opening resume/application. You need to start going through tp.
