Twice I left without offer. Once I took a six month break and the other time which is ongoing it has been 3 months+. Both times it was a take a step back to see where I am heading and what I want to do. And I didn’t really like the offers I had in hand. Modified my CV and pitch accordingly and targeted specific roles and companies. When asked about the break, I explained the need to reflect on where I was going, the need to take a break because I worked really hard in the year before taking a break to refresh, choosing an offer that matches my own 5-year plans so that I grow in my role and the role helps the company to grow or achieve its goals. Both times accepted offers that chased me hard and kept raising the money as well. I haven’t yet accepted the second one because I am still evaluating few other options.
It will only work if you don’t doubt yourself and are confident. Honestly there were occasions which made me ask the question but I would remind myself I chose this.
Just go on and LinkedIn and check how many companies keep reposting some jobs. I am not talking of small ones but the FAANGS of the world and unicorns of India and top MNCs and global startups. Which shows either applicants undersell themselves or there is no talented. Become better at what you do, don’t undersell yourself and you will get what you want.
