Reservation, a ladder for the needy, not a comfy sofa for the greedy. Isn't it time we re-evaluated its purpose?

Definitely its the time to strike it off, because its doing much more harm then the benefit it was added for in the first place.

But i also know that no goddamm government has the guts and balls to do it because of vote bank politics and its effects. So we will be forever stuck with it until everyone is under reservation making it nullified. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Unfortunately, itโ€™s not going anywhere. At least not in the next 2-3 decades.

Harsh truth is, everyone agress its shitty law that needs to go away, but still, nothing can be done about it. Sometimes i questions, is this how democracy works or i guess its regarding "vote-ocracy".

Both the policy makers and the people are to be blamed here.

Privilege is invisible to those who have it.

It's a long discussion.
A. Reservation cannot and shouldn't go away. B. What should be done is make reforms that it is reserved at a small percentage. Possible changes-

  1. If someone gets reservation for education, they shouldn't get it for govt job and vice versa.
  2. If someone in ones family has gotten reservation , the next generation shouldn't get reservation from the same family

Other than that, reservation was brought for both social and economic improvement in lives of lower castes simply because upper castes had to introduce a caste system and discriminate against lower castes. Yes, it's not a thing of past, yes it still happens even today. So, until we as people cannot eradicate caste reservation, we don't get to ask for removing caste system

I agree with changes you are suggesting. But i still don't agree that if an option, reservation shouldn't go away. There is no way to implement it systematically that it gives benefits only to actually deserving. Also who is 'deserving' is going to be a forever ongoing debate.

Tell me one developed economy, where there is such system.

What's not implemented there doesn't mean it cannot be implemented here.

The changes I proposed already defines who's deserving.

And I agree, if we can remove it, let's! But, the way to do that is to solve for the caste discrimination and eliminate it

Reservation system? It's not a lifeline, it's a crutch. It breeds complacency, not competition! Hum kya sikhayege apne bachchon ko? Bheek maango? Why not teach meritocracy instead?

I am Hindu and a Brahmin , what I understand is, my and other Kshtriya Varna purvajs have given immense pratadna to the other varnas..

Earlier the varnas were karma based, and these guys stopped it, started making their sons Brahmins & Kshtriyas..

So, Karma Ka Fal to Milna Hi Tha

But, now we have taken up alot, now slowly this varnas are going, in a way, ultimately, varnas are again becoming Karma Based. So things will solve.

The reservation system, a crutch for the incapable. Hinders meritorious talent. Is this system really uplifting the needy or just creating more divide?
